Getting as many one way backlinks as you can will be helpful. Just remember though to keep your sights on high ranked web sites where possible so your work pays offer faster then dealing with lesser ranked sites.

It could be done over time and with completely different content. This will keep you from violating Google’s duplicate content rule.
